Service Description

Start Date: Tuesday, Sept 10, 2024 Time: 2:45PM Our social skills group leverages the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to support children's social and emotional development. This structured program focuses on: Identifying and Understanding Emotions: Helping children recognize and label their own emotions and those of others. Increasing Sharing and Waiting Tolerance: Teaching patience and the importance of sharing with peers. Managing Big Feelings: Providing tools and techniques to handle intense emotions constructively. Learning Specific Calm Down Strategies: Introducing practical methods to help children self-regulate during moments of distress. Children will receive personalized guidance and support during social interactions with their peers. This hands-on approach ensures they practice and refine their social skills in a real-world setting. Additionally, our program equips parents with effective strategies to support their children's emotional growth both proactively and reactively. Each session is meticulously designed and led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), ensuring a high standard of care and expertise. Parent Support and Resources: We believe in a holistic approach that involves parents as active participants in their child's social development. Each week, parents will receive a detailed handout that includes: Creating a Calm Down Corner: Step-by-step instructions on setting up a dedicated space at home where children can go to relax and calm down. Breathing Techniques: Simple yet effective breathing exercises that can help children regain composure during stressful situations. Role-Playing to Teach Emotions: Practical tips on using role-playing to help children understand and navigate different emotional scenarios. Proactive Strategies: Guidance on how to anticipate and mitigate potential emotional outbursts by recognizing triggers and implementing preventive measures. Reactive Strategies: Techniques to support children during and after an emotional episode, promoting a healthy recovery and learning process.
