Tara Lynn D'Uva
Rumson has been home to this educator and her family for the past 16 years. She and her husband have three children whom they adore—one at RFH, one at CBA, and one at Deane Porter.
With 23 years of experience in education, she is a certified K-8 teacher holding a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a certificate in Supervision. Her professional background includes teaching grades K-7, writing numerous curriculums, working as an Academic Life Coach, and serving as an Early Literacy Specialist, coaching K-3 and special education teachers. She has also supported administrative teams, facilitated professional development days, parent workshops, Professional Learning Community meetings, and Grade Level Meetings.

Currently, she is studying Dyscalculia as part of a research group based in the UK, where she is being trained and certified to administer Dyscalculia screenings. She plans to train teachers and provide specialized tutoring for students with this math learning disability, which lags 50 years behind dyslexia in research and recognition.

During the pandemic, she identified an immediate need in the community and responded by creating a program called HOMEROOM. This program provided local K-7 students with academic, extracurricular, social, and emotional support during the uncertain times of virtual education. Alongside a talented team, she worked to ensure that students in grades K - 7th thrived during this challenging period.

Inspired by the success of HOMEROOM, she pursued her dream of opening a dedicated space for children within walking distance of the Rumson Schools' campus. The magic brought by the students confirmed the need for such a space. The lasting positive impact of this initiative reinforced her belief in the importance of providing academic, social, and emotional support to children and teens.

Her current focus is on meeting the modern needs of young learners, their caregivers, and teenagers. Recognizing the important needs of each stage of being social, feeling included, and having their talents nurtured, she set out to create a space specifically designed for them. Her goal is to provide a welcoming, enriching environment that offers the highest standards and best practices in education.

Her expertise lies in designing and implementing individualized plans to meet the unique needs of each student. She believes all children deserve to be seen, celebrated, and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

She is also a strong supporter of local school districts and their dedicated teachers, working collaboratively with them to ensure students thrive both academically and personally. She values open communication with parents and believes that teamwork is key to fostering student success.

A central focus of her work is empowering students to become autonomous learners and life-long leaders. She emphasizes the importance of executive function development and metacognition, equipping students with the tools and strategies they need to learn independently and deeply.

The Peach Pit team she has assembled shares her philosophies, work ethic, and specialized expertise.

In addition to her work in education, she has served on the Rumson Board of Education and worked as the Content Coordinator/Editor of Rumson Living Magazine. Passionate about her community and the work she does, she is grateful for the opportunity to work with so many children, who truly bring the magic to every endeavor.
